Finished Irredeemable/Incorruptible and I thought both series were really great. I don’t think the story of a good superhero like Superman for example going bad, or a super villain going good are too new of ideas but I thought they were really well done here.
Irredeemable was all about characters trying to stop The Plutonian who is almost god like with the powers he has after he goes on a murderous rampage. I was wondering how this story was going to go on for 37 issues but it has some good twists and it never got boring. I thought the ending was really ballsy of Mark Waid to do because it’s kind of crazy but I kind loved it too. The origin of Plutonian might have been the only dumb moment just because it was a little too out there but it didn’t ruin the story.
Incorruptible was about Max Damage, one of the worst super villains who after watching The Plutonian going on a rampage changes his ways and decides to become a good guy and tries to help the people in his city of Coaltown. I thought this was going to cross over heavily with Irredeemable but it only does that in a few issues which I was ok with, and after awhile I was actually glad this had its own cast of characters and had its own things going on because reading two comics about the same things would have gotten boring fast.
I hope Mark Waid does another series like this again soon because I can’t wait to read more of his stuff.
